ABOUT NADIA
Owner of Melodic Moments

Nadia is a Canadian musician who first began violin lessons at the age of three and piano and theory lessons at the age of six. She grew up performing classical music through the Royal Conservatory of Music method, and participated in many competitive festivals.

In addition to her classical violin training, she grew up performing Celtic and Fiddle music at various fiddle camps in Alberta, and was a part of a fiddle band called the Trixie Chicks. The Trixie Chicks traveled across Alberta for six years performing at various venues, festivals, and concerts. The Trixie Chicks were very popular at the Fringe Festival in Edmonton and got the opportunity to record their very own CD donating the proceeds to building wells in Africa.

Nadia has been teaching music since 2009 from her own studio (Melodic Moments), as well as, at various music schools such as Millwoods Music School, Dominelli School of Music, Long & McQuade, and Musicworks Canada. She chose to further her musical aptitude by completing a Bachelor of Music degree at the King’s University in Edmonton and finished her degree with honors with distinction in 2014.

As a musician, she has been actively involved in the choral and performance scene from a young age, singing soprano in numerous choirs throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas—including the Chamber Choir at The King’s University during her university years. Her musical journey has taken her across Canada, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, performing at various festivals such as the Highland Games and others. She has played for Canadian country artist Brett Kissel and performed for the late Jack Layton. Her experience spans a wide range of venues including the Fairmont Hotel in Jasper, various churches, seniors' residences, farmers' markets and private events. She also accompanies her students in their Royal Conservatory of Music examinations, demonstrating her versatility and collaborative musicianship. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys practicing and learning new musical instruments, and continues to take part in the local music community.
In recent years, she has broadened her pedagogical scope to include the study and instruction of the cello. Initially undertaken as a shared educational pursuit with her daughter, this endeavor has developed into a focused and disciplined engagement with both the instrument and the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum. Through consistent study, applied practice, and pedagogical reflection, she has successfully facilitated her daughter's progression through the RCM cello syllabus, with her daughter now advancing through its higher levels. This process has deepened her theoretical and practical knowledge of cello instruction, enabling her to competently teach beginner students. This expansion of her instrumental expertise contributes meaningfully to her development as a well-rounded and versatile music educator.

Music has been a huge part of her life and continues to be as she has the opportunity to share it with others, through teaching and performing. She really enjoys working with people of all ages, and has a gentle approach that brings great results.
Her favorite quote about music is by Victor Hugo and reads as follows: “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”
